Fried Candy Bars

Get ready for a sinful treat that combines the comfort of deep-fried desserts with the sweetness of candy bars. Perfect for parties, events, or just a special treat at home, these fried candy bars are sure to be a hit!

Servings: 16

Ingredients:

  • Mini candy bars (16 pieces)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups oil or shortening (for deep frying)
  • Powdered sugar (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Preparation: Begin by freezing the mini candy bars overnight. This ensures they hold their shape when frying.
  2. Batter Preparation: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the egg and milk until combined. Gradually add in the flour and a pinch of salt. Whisk the mixture until smooth without lumps. Once done, cover the bowl with cling film or a lid and refrigerate for about 30 minutes. This allows the batter to set.
  3. Heat the Oil: In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the oil or shortening. Using a candy thermometer, ensure that the temperature reaches 365°F (185°C). This is the ideal temperature for deep frying; too cold and the candy bars will be soggy, too hot and they will burn.
  4. Fry the Candy Bars: Remove the candy bars from the freezer. Dip each one into the chilled batter, ensuring it’s fully coated. Carefully drop the candy bars, one at a time or in small batches, into the hot oil. Fry until they turn a light golden brown color, which should take about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Cooling: Once fried to perfection, use a slotted spoon to remove the candy bars from the oil. Transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels. This will help absorb any excess oil.
  6. Serve: While the candy bars are still warm, sprinkle a generous amount of powdered sugar over them. This adds an extra layer of sweetness and gives them a pleasing appearance.

Tips:

  • For added flavor, you can sprinkle with cinnamon or drizzle with chocolate sauce or caramel.
  • Always be cautious when working with hot oil. Keep children and pets away from the frying area.
  • You can experiment with different candy bars to see which ones you prefer when deep-fried. Popular choices include Snickers, Milky Way, and Twix.

Enjoy your fried candy bars with a cold glass of milk or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent treat!
