After dedicating 15 fruitful years at the renowned Charleston restaurant FIG, located at 232 Meeting Street, Executive Chef Jason Stanhope has decided to step down. The reason behind this significant move? A fresh chapter in his professional journey.
FIG co-owner Mike Lata expressed both nostalgia and excitement in his statement. The departure of Stanhope is “bittersweet,” according to Lata, who is eager to see what the James Beard Award-winning chef will embark on next. Lata shared his anticipation for the unfolding of the next chapter at FIG and mentioned his philosophy about the necessity of change for growth.
Having joined the culinary team of FIG in 2008, Stanhope’s prowess was quickly acknowledged. By 2014, he had earned the title of executive chef, and his excellence was further solidified in 2015 when he was awarded the James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef: Southeast.
While the culinary world awaits to see where Stanhope’s expertise takes him next, he has yet to announce his future plans.
