Air Fryer Churros: A Quick and Kid-Friendly Treat

Churros, the beloved winter dessert, synonymous with bonfire festivities and Christmas markets, can now be enjoyed at home with an air fryer.

Popular Instagram chef Kiley O’Donnell, with a following of over 238k on her account @WellMadeByKiley, unveiled a fool-proof recipe for creating mouth-watering churros using an air fryer.

For those craving this delightful treat, Kiley’s method involves:

  1. In a medium pan or pot, combine a cup of water, ¼ teaspoon of salt, a tablespoon of sugar, and ½ cup of butter. Stir continuously and bring it to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in a cup of all-purpose flour. The dough should be smooth and detach easily from the pot’s sides.
  3. Incorporate three eggs, adding them one by one, and ensuring the mixture remains smooth.
  4. Let the mixture cool and preheat your air fryer to about 200°C (392°F).
  5. Use a ziplock bag with a corner cut off to pipe the dough. Shape the dough into four-inch long sticks on parchment paper and then place the paper in the air fryer’s basket.
  6. Mist the churros with cooking spray and fry them for 5-7 minutes until they attain a golden hue.
  7. Once done, roll the churros in sugar.

Pair the freshly made churros with your choice of a chocolate spread, like Nutella, and enjoy!

Kiley’s churro post earned an impressive 180k likes. Many fans expressed their excitement, with comments ranging from eager requests to friends to make these churros to words of admiration for the delightful dessert.
